Coach Carei pleased with performance at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

Despite a skeleton crew, Coach Joe Carei was pleased with the team's result at Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Saturday, October 8th.  The team ran against mostly NCAA division 1 and 2 schools.

The team, dealing with mid-season aches and pains, rested their top three guys.  The women's team was missing their top runner senior Mallory Pasquarette( Champion Christian), who is out for the season. "Despite missing some key people, our team stepped it up.  Four runners had personal bests. I liked what I saw and gained some confidence in our team,' said Carei.

Senior Jesse Varndell(Albert Gallatin), lead the team with a season best 35:58. Junior Pedro Tavarez(Central York) was second for the team in 36:43, and was followed closely by freshman Anthony Berdine(Washington) in 37:25. Berdine had a personal record by nearly two and a half minutes.  Completing the team was Junior Kyle Slavic(Ringgold) in 41:44.

The women saw Sophomore Kirsten Webb(California) complete the women's course in 30:33.   Sophomore Emma Hepler(Yough) finish with a PR of 38:43

The team will travel to Hood College in Fredricktown, MD on Saturday, October 15.
