Fayette XC rebounds at Hood College Invitational

The Roaring Lions proved that they are poised and ready for the PSUAC conference meet with their performance at the Hood College Invitational.

Junior Cameron Coffey(Brownsville) ran a school record 27:36, enroute to a 18th finish. He lead the Roaring Lions team that saw nearly the whole team set personal records(PR). The team finished 12th out of the 20 teams that participated, in a field dominated by NCCA teams including power house Grove City.

Coffey was helped by Freshman Micheal Elliot(Beth Center), who ran 31:29. Senior Jesse Varndell(Albert Gallatin) increased his PR by nearly 2 minutes finishing in 32:35. Freshman Anthony Berdine(Washington) followed in 35:43. Soph. Kyle Slavic(Monesson) battled through foot pain to finish in 36:23. Dalton Kirkpatrick(Connellsville) rounded out the team in 38:12. In the women's race, Sophmore Kirsten Webb finished in 38:14.

"I felt that today really gave the team a lot of confidence," said Coach Joe Carei. "Everyone ran well and felt really good after their race."

The team will have a bye week and then will travel to the PSUAC conference meet. The meet will be held at Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday, October 29th.
