Fayette XC victorious at Penn State Greater Allegheny

Lemont Furnace, PA- The Penn State Fayette Cross Country team traveled to East McKeesport, PA this weekend to participate in the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational. The women ran in the 5K race and the men ran in the 8K race. There were a total of 4 teams that participated in this event. These teams included Carlow University, Westmoreland County Community College and the Kent State Tuscarawas.

Carlow University were victorious for the women's event with their top runner finishing with a time of 20:58.  Anna Elko placed 15th with a time of 26:03 and Emma Hepler finished 26th with a time of 33:22. These finish times were both personal records for them. Also, Amber Glodziak finished 27th with a time of 44:38.

The men's team was victorious for the Roaring Lions with a score of 32 points and an average time of 30:58. The Roaring Lions were led by Devin Pisarski, who finished 2nd with a time of 28:50. It was his first run since he had dislocated his shoulder. Also, Aaron Mylan finished 4th with a time of 29:45.  Michael Elliot finished 7th with a time of 31:28.

Other runners that contributed to the victory were Nyoah Marteny with his 10th place finish (32:18), Carmen Cavanaugh finishing in right behind Nyoah (32:27) and PJ Savini coming in 13th (35:12). It was great team effort from the Roaring Lions. Looking ahead, the Roaring Lions will travel to Penn State Mont Alto this Saturday, September 23rd, where they look to continue their success. The event will begin at 1:00 PM.
