Golf team hosts second PSU Fayette Invitational

The Penn State Fayette golf team hosted the second annual Penn State Fayette Fall Golf Invitational at the Uniontown Country Club and the team took third place with a team score of 343.

"The weather was great and the fans enjoyed a high level of competitive golf," said head coach Dave Gumbert. "We are thankful for the strong support provided by the ownership team of the Duck Hollow Golf Course and the Uniontown Country Club."

Louis Gonzales (Port Lavaca, TX/Calhoun HS) looked best for Fayette after tying for fifth place with a score of 79.

"Louis started the round slowly before getting into high gear and leading the team," Gumbert said.

Ryan Gesso (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) tied for 11th after shooting an 86 while Jarred Provance (Uniontown, PA/Uniontown HS) was a shot behind Gesso and tied for 15th.

"Jarred Provance continues to make good progress in his game," Gumbert said.

Noah House (Mt. Pleasant/Southmoreland HS) shot a 91 to place 20th, Joshua Sterbutzel (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) shot a 106 to finish 31st, Pablo Gudiel (Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson HS) placed 32nd with a 108 and Kalianna Rager (Alverton, PA/Alverton HS) competed in the women's division and was 36th after shooting a 132.

PSU Lehigh Valley took first with an overall score of 323 and it also claimed the PSUAC (Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference) award for first place among all competing Penn State campuses.

Carmen Olivia of Butler County Community College won the Men's Individual award with a score of 74 and Morgan Krause of Lehigh Valley won the Women's Individual award with a score of 95.

Fayette is back in action on Tuesday, September 17 when the team heads to PSU New Kensington.

Tee time is set for noon.
