Riley paces four players in double figures in win

Lemont Furnace, PA - Kaitlyn Riley scored 19 points to lead four Penn State Fayette players in double figures Tuesday night in Penn State Fayette's 79-47 win over CCBC in women's basketball action.

"We were very balanced in scoring," said head coach Scott Hillen. "I am pleased with the effort and now that we are able to practice with a full team, it is showing.  However, we still need to figure each other out although we are getting there."

Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) was joined in double figures by Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) and Carissa Cyphert (Scottsdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) with 12 each as well as Anaejah Harris (Uniontown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) who finished with 11.

Siteri Tale (Uniontown/Laurel Highlands HS) led all players with 13 rebounds.

Up 16-14 after one quarter, the Nittany Lions (7-3) exploded offensively in the second while tightening up defensively.

In the quarter, Fayette outscored CCBC 30-10 to take a commanding 46-24 lead into the half.

"We had a great defensive effort by the team," Hillen said. "Hopefully we can keep it going."

Fayette limited CCBC to 16 points in the third and only seven in the fourth.

For the game, Fayette shot 38% (28-73) overall and while CCBC matched it at 38%, (17-45) the volume difference was too much for the guests.  Fayette shot 35% (12-34) from three-point territory while CCBC shot 9% (1-11).

Another key was Fayette forced 25 CCBC turnovers while only turning the ball over 12 times itself.

The Nittany Lions returns to Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play Friday when they host Penn State New Kensington (1-8, 1-4).

Tipoff is set for 6 PM.
