Women's Basketball dominates PSUGA

McKeesport, Pa - Despite being off for a month and a day in between games due to winter break, the Penn State Fayette women's basketball team picked up where it left off in mid-December as it downed Penn State Greater Allegheny Tuesday night, 80-58, to earn its fifth straight win.

"This was a tough game coming off of a big break," said head coach Scott Hillen. "We played a scrappy team game that was sloppy at times but we pulled it together and had a great team effort.  We have to keep things moving in the right direction."

Trailing 16-15 after the first quarter, Fayette (9-3, 6-1) outscored Greater Allegheny (3-9, 2-5) 17-6 in the second to take a 32-22 lead into halftime.  Fayette put the game away by outscoring the hosts 26-10 in the third to take a 58-32 lead into the fourth.

Kaitlyn Riley (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi HS) came off the bench to lead Fayette with 20 points while Anaejah Harris (Uniontown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) scored 16, Dae-lin Burnsworth (Monarch, PA/Connellsville HS) finished with 15 and Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) added 13 while Brooke Poling (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS) grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds, including 16 offensive.

For the game, Fayette shot 36.7% (29-79) while Greater Allegheny shot 33.3% (24-72).  Fayette forced 29 turnovers and turned them into 24 points while Greater Allegheny scored 18 points off of 27 Fayette giveaways.

Fayette returns to action this weekend with a home doubleheader as it hosts Penn State Brandywine Friday at 6 PM and Penn State Lehigh Valley Saturday at 1 PM.
