Fayette loses season finale to Beaver
Lemont Furnace, PA- The Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions played host to Penn State Beaver this past Monday afternoon. Before the game outfielder Kody Thomas was featured on senior day for his contributions to Fayette baseball. The rest of the team hoped to send Kody off with a win, but Beaver would not be able to be stopped. Beaver defeated Fayette with a final score of 11-6.
Monday's game against Penn State Beaver was a heartbreaker for Penn State Fayette Lions Varsity, as they lost the lead late in the 11-6 defeat. The game was tied at five with Penn State Beaver batting in the top of the seventh when Scott Hughes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Roaring Lions collected 15 hits and Penn State Beaver had 15 in the high-scoring affair.
Penn State Beaver fired up the offense in the first inning. Penn State Beaver scored one run when Stefan Romaniuk singled.
Justyn Francona earned the win for Penn State Beaver. He allowed six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Russell Ritenour took the loss for Fayette. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out one.
Austin Clark started the game for Fayette. He surrendered four runs on seven hits over four and a third innings. Logan Gibbons started the game for Penn State Beaver. He went five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out one.
Penn State Fayette scattered 15 hits in the game. Kody Thomas, Ritenour, Matt Morgan, and Ross Mazer all managed multiple hits. Ritenour and Thomas each collected three hits to lead the team on the day.
Penn State Beaver saw the ball well, racking up 15 hits in the game. Romaniuk, Zack Cossette, Gibbons, Dan Vanderslice, Mitchel Lazzaretti, and Matt Capo all managed multiple hits for Penn State Beaver. Romaniuk led Penn State Beaver with four hits in six at bats.
Fayette baseball has completed the 2018 season with a final record of 3-15 overall and 2-13 in the PSUAC.
