BB swept for second day in a row by DuBois

Lemont Furnace, PA - For the second time in as many days, the Penn State Fayette baseball team was swept in PSUAC action by Penn State DuBois.

The final score of the opener was 10-4 while the nightcap ended in five innings, 10-0.

DuBois (21-4 overall, 18-4 PSUAC) opened the first game with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Fayette (10-13, 10-12) countered with a run in its first at-bat.  With one out, Nate Zimcosky (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands HS) singled and advanced to third on a double by Noah Hansen (New Kensington, PA/Kiski Area HS).  Cade Warrick (Mill Run, PA/Connellsville HS) drove Zimcosky in with a single, but Fayette could not capitalize as it left the bases loaded.

DuBois slowly pulled away as it scored once in the second, three times in the third and twice in the fifth to make the score 8-1.  In the bottom of the fifth, Hansen drilled a two-run home run to trim the DuBois lead to 8-3.

Trailing 10-3 in the seventh, while Fayette scored an unearned run, the only question was whether Hansen would finish with a cycle.  Having doubled in the first, tripled in the third and homered in the fifth, he lined out to second.

Hansen finished with the three hits while Zimcosky had three singles.  Warrick's first-inning single was the only other Fayette hit.

Garrett Stevenson (Hempfield, PA/Hempfield HS) went the distance for Fayette, with all 10 DuBois runs being earned.  He gave up 11 hits while striking out six and walking three.

In the nightcap, Fayette was limited to five singles by Toner Corl (five innings pitched) and Brett Beith (one).

The game was scoreless into the third when DuBois plated three off of Anthony DellaPenna (Brownsville, PA/Beth-Center HS).  It added two more in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.  DellaPenna gave up 10 runs, eight of which were earned, and 12 hits over the six innings.  He struck out three and walked six.

Fayette ends its season Monday with a double header at Penn State Greater Allegheny (13-8, 13-8).
