Fayette takes the series against New Kensington 3-1

Lemont Furnace, PA- Penn State Fayette takes down Penn State New Kesington 3-1 in the series.

The first game of the series was a rough start for Fayette, losing 9-2, but Fayette showed their ability to bounce back, winning the other three. Game two of the series was a batters game, with a high score of 17-15. During the second game of the away double header, seniors, Dylan Bohna and Cade Warrick memicked each other with 4 RBIs and 1 homerun each. Coming off of a high scoring victory, it was Fayette's turn to host Penn State New Kesington Saturday in a double header. Fayette came out on fire with a 12-4 final score victory. Dylan Bohna continue his homerun streak, along with 3 RBIs. Josh Burns followed suit with a homerun as well adding to the high score. Fayette and New Kensington made the finish of the series an exciting one. In the bottom of the seventh Fayette trailed 12-9, but Fayette found inspiration by being one run away from a tie. With two outs Sawyer D'Andrea, a transfer, hit a homerun with Connor Vig and John Iannou on base, making the final score 14-12.

Coach Ryan Encapera shared his thoughts on the series, "It was great to take 3 out of 4 from New Ken to stay in contention for a playoff spot. We had 4 huge innings in the 3 wins that elevated us to have momentum and win. Our goal for each game was to score as many runs as possible and collect outs 3 at a time. We swung it well in all 3 games, and had a ton of hits and even our outs were hard hit balls. Dylan Bohna had 3 home runs in the series and each of those fueled our guys with energy. AJ Segarra was a stopper on the mound coming in relief twice to shut them down and pick up two wins. Jorge Palmas had a solid outing to carry us to a win in game 3. By far the most memorable moment was SawDog's Walk off 3Run HR to win game 4. Sawyer works so hard to be a great hitter and to have him come thru in the clutch was a remarkable way to end the series. Our guys are so tough and show so much GRIT everyday and this series is an example that we are in the game until the last out."

Fayette is set to play tomorrow against Kent State Tuscarawas on the road.
