Baseball has tough loss in playoff game

Dubois, PA- Penn State Fayette Baseball had a tough loss to Penn State Dubois in PSUAC playoffs.

Fayette baseball knew they had a battle on their hands when stepping on the field Saturday afternoon against Penn State Dubois at Showers Field in Dubois, PA. Fayette was ready for the "play in" seven inning fight against Dubois, still having the memory of beating them at home in regular season on their mind. Dubois took a quick jump in the bottom of the second, bringing in 5 runs. Heading into the top of the third, Fayette had their heads held high and accepted the challenge of a batting game. Freshman, Johnny Iannou came out on fire for Fayette, hitting a homerun as the first person up to bat in the inning. Freshman, AJ Segarra followed suit by hitting a grandslam, making the score 5-5 heading into the bottom of the third. Dubois began to take over, scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the third. Fayette held out hope, with Andrew Despot hitting a homerun. However it wasn't enough for the Nittany Lions, with Dubois having another run, scoring 5 total in the bottom of the fourth. Fayette went down swinging, making the final score 17-10 in Dubois favor. Despite the loss Fayette baseball had a historical season. The 2023 team will go down in history of most runs scored in a season as a team, totaling out at 289. Which also made the team second in the PSUAC, just behind Brandywine that is currently at 297. Fayette will also finish second in the conference for RBI statistics, with 240. Fayette's biggest accomplishment was leading the conference in homeruns with 21 for the season, with the next team still 9 behind Fayette.
