Baseball secures huge win over Penn State Brandywine

Lake Myrtle, FL- Baseball secures huge victory over Penn State Brandywine.

Penn State Brandywine was picked 12th for the USCAA Coaches Poll, but quickly proved their dominance beating number 4, Penn State Mont Alto just three days later. Penn State Fayette, coming off a 3-0 start this season, came into the game tonight prepared for a battle with Penn State Brandywine.

Despite being down 1 in the first, Fayette matched Brandywine's energy inning after inning with matching runs. The energy picked up in the bottom of the fifth, bases loaded with one out and a wild pitch was thrown causing Braeden McKnight to score making it a 7-5 game. Heading into the sixth, Coach Encapera decided to put second year player, Aj Segarra on the mound after a strong performance from Lessman. Brandywine was able to score a run in the top of the sixth, but Segarra finished it off strong with a strikeout and help from the field. Heading into the bottom of the sixth, Fayette was in the veteran part of the batting order and managed to load the bases with powerhouse, Segarra up to bat. Segarra managed to bring in all three runners tying the game 8-8 with two outs. First year player Ashton Ray was put in to run for Segarra and managed to steal third. It was now the rookies turn to pull their weight with Ray, Lessman and Monnard all scoring, adding 3 runs to the inning. Fayette shutdown Brandywine immediately in the top of the seventh, taking the game with a final score of 11-8. Fayette will now take on a record of 4-0 so far on the start of their season.
