Baseball wins both against Christendom

Butler, PA- Baseball wins both against Christendom.

In the first game of the double header, it was all Fayette Baseball. The first two innings were quiet, but in the third inning third year player, Sawyer D'Andrea got the bats hot with a hard double, allowing first year player, Aidan Schnurer to score. Jaxson Monnard followed suit with a double, which brought in Andrew Despot and Sayer D'Andrea. In the fourth, Fayette began the steam roll with 6 runs being scored.  Remington Lessman, a first year pitcher, was able to secure another win to rack up his pitching stats. Lessman delivered 39 total strikes during the game. The game was cut early in the fifth, when Fayette scored one more, making the final score 11-1.

Heading into the second game of the night Fayette had a slow start, being down 2 heading into the second inning. First year player, Frank Macioce singled, creating both Dino Dolden and Jaxson Monnard to score, creating a tie game. Fayette wasn't done in the second, with first year player Ashton Ray singling, and Aiden Newmeyer scoring. The battle continued as Christendom pulled away in the sixth, making the score 8-3. However, Fayette opened the cracked door wide open, scoring 4 in the sixth and 3 in the seventh. Leading in RBI's on the game was Braeden McKnight with 3, 2 of which came at the end to clinch the win. Second year pitcher, Noah Matthews also performed strong on the field with 5 strikeouts in the 7 inning game. Riley Henck was able to step in to close out the game as the winning pitcher. This is Henck's first pitching win in his collegiate career. Fayette won with a final score of 10-9. 

Fayette is currently second in the USCAA National standings with a record of 7-2. Fayette will take some much needed rest on the week until their true home opener on Saturday, March 16th where they will take on Kent State Tuscarawas(2-2) in a double header, for a 1:00 P.M. start.
