Harrison sets the bar high this Fall

Freddie Harrison is excited for his Penn State Fayette golf team and the squad opened its season early with a third-place finish at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational on Sunday at the Youghiogheny Country Club.

The second-year coach spoke about Dylan Pawlak (Acme, PA/Mt. Pleasant HS), who finished third individually to lead the team.

"He took third after shooting even on the opening nine," Harrison said. "He finished with an 83.  He could have finished second or even won, but we will build off of this.  He has such flexibility and moves farther back with the clubs.  He kills the ball when he hits it well."

The outcome was a good start to the season, and Harrison feels his quintet of golfers will play well this year.  The team consists of Pawlak, Chase Malanosky (Fredricktown, PA/Beth-Center), James Zakrzwski (Belle Vernon, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic HS), Nate Moody (Uniontown, PA/Uniontown HS) and Nick Sinal (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier HS).

"We are playing pretty good at practice," Harrison said. "If they can all click together, I think we have a decent chance of playing some good golf.  We started off with this third (place finish), and we will take it."

As far as goals, Harrison is setting the bar high.

"I would like to get at least two of our guys at nationals, and three would be nice," he said. "Would like to place as a team as well."

The team returns to action on Thursday, September 8 when they play in the Penn State University White Course Invitational on main campus.
