Mozie scores 1,000th point in MBB win

Tave Mozie went over 1,000 career points Wednesday night and five players hit double figures as the Penn State Fayette men's basketball team cruised to a 104-76 win over the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC).

"We were able to push the ball up the floor and get easy buckets," said Fayette coach Andy Hedrick. "I thought Matt Forbes did a great job of finding open men and playing defense.  I am very happy for Tave getting his 1,000th points.  That is impressive when you look at all the time that was lost dealing with COVID-19."

The Nittany Lions (2-1) shot 54.7% (41-75) from the floor, 50% (14-28) from beyond the arc and 81.8% (9-11) from the foul line.  And while CCAC shot 56.6% (30-53) for the game, Fayette ramped up the defense as CCAC turned the ball over 28 times and the Nittany Lions converted the miscues into 32 points.

Dom Boring (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster HS) led the way for Fayette with 22 points as he connected on 10 of his 14 attempts from the floor.  Mo Freeman (New Castle, DE/Salem Community College) added 18 points as he made 6 of his 10 shot attempts.  Dasilas Jones (Fairmont, WV/Fairmont HS) had 20 points (8-13 from the field), Mozie (McClellandtown, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) added 16 points (5-9 form the floor), a team-high four rebounds and a team-high three assists while Will Hagwood (Willoughby, OH/Willoughby HS) tallied 13 points (5-10 from the floor).

The Nittany Lions had 19 steals and won the bench output margin, 25-14.

Fayette is home again Friday when it hosts Carlow.  Opening tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
