Lemont Furnace, PA - Penn State Fayette has announced men's soccer will be returning as an independant program for the Fall 2023 season. This news come in the wake of the annoucement of new head coach and Fayette County native, Mike Wystepek.

The program will participate as an independant program for the Fall 2023 season, and then reintroduced to the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) in Fall 2024. "This model gives us an opportunity to build the program sustainably, and around strong community support with our local partners" said, Stephen Oberly, Athletic Director. "Coach Wystepek's combination of knowledge in the sport and connection to this community will help us build a program that's successful and sustainable for years to come."

Due to program instability coming off an inaugural 2021 season, the decision was made to cancel the 2022 season and implement a new plan for reinstating the program in the PSUAC.

Coach Wystepek commented on the vision for the program stating, "We are setting the foundation for an elite men's soccer program and looking for recruits willing to be the forefront of this endeavor. Even though it will be a few years before we enter the conferences again, recruits coming aboard now will help streamline the program for greatness."
