WBB falls at Seton Hill

Heading into Penn State Fayette's women's basketball game at Seton Hill Sunday afternoon, head coach Scott Hillen knew the Griffins would be the best team his Nittany Lions would play all season.

He was right as Seton Hill won, 85-50.

The outcome was never in doubt as the Griffins (5-3) raced out to a 36-2 lead after the first quarter and while the outcome didn't go Fayette's way, Hillen said his team found their footage after the initial barrage.

"Seton Hill shot lights out and I think we were a little intimidated to start the game," he said. "We actually did some good things as the game moved along, but we had that huge hole and did what we could.  We will learn from what (Seton Hill) did and move forward."

Taylor McCormick (Laurel, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt HS) was the lone Fayette (2-3) player in double figures with a game-high 21 points.  She also recorded a game-high, and a career-high, seven steals while ZaMeriah Edwards (Houston, PA/Chartiers Houston HS) added a career-high five steals.  Abby Bickerton (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward HS) (10) and Morgan Rigsby (West Portsmith, OH/West Portsmith HS) (nine) combined for 19 rebounds.

Fayette missed all 12 of its shots in the first quarter and finished 19 of 64 from the floor (29.7 percent) for the game.

The Nittany Lions return to Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play Tuesday when they host Penn State Greater Allegheny (4-6).  It will be the first of three home conference games this week for Fayette.
