Fayette VB opens PSUAC play with sweep

Mont Alto, PA - The Penn State Fayette Volleyball team opened up Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) play Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Penn State Mont Alto (25-22, 25-19, 27-25).

The sweep gave Fayette (3-2 overall, 1-0 PSUAC) some much-needed game action as the team heads into the meat of conference season with a handful of non-conference matches also on the docket.

"We are excited to win our first conference game of the season," said head coach Sam Swetz. "I think we have finally come together as a team and it 100% showed tonight in the stats.  Our defense is very clutch this season and our offense is finally getting to their level of play."

Carissa Cyphert (Scottdale, PA/Southmoreland HS) finished with a match-high 17 digs, edging out Kamden Miller (Midland, PA/Lincoln Park HS) who finished with 16.  Angel Buwawa (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands HS) stuffed the stat sheet with 10 digs, nine kills and five aces, Kristina Aeschbacher (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) had eight kills and eight total blocks and Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) finished with 15 assists.

The young Fayette (3-2 overall, 1-0 PSUAC) returns to action Saturday when it hosts Penn State Beaver in a PSUAC match.
