Volleyball splits pair, in 4th in West

Lemont Furnace, PA - The Penn State Fayette Volleyball team headed into the weekend hoping to create a log jam near the top of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) West division by winning a pair of matches at home.  Unfortunately, the team split the matches and now sits in fourth place in the division.

On Saturday, Fayette (6-6 overall, 4-3 PSUAC) swept Penn State Shenango (2-8, 2-5), 25-15, 25-22 and 25-19).

Kristina Aeschbacher (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) had 12 kills and ten blocks while Kamden Miller (Midland, PA/Lincoln Park HS) had 15 digs and Jadyn Barnish (Carmichaels, PA/Carmichaels HS) recorded 15 assists.

Sunday, Fayette lost a five-set match to Penn State Mont Alto (9-4, 5-2), 25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 5-15).

Noelle Hunter (Fredricktown, PA/Beth-Center HS) had 13 kills and eight blocks, Miller recorded 25 digs and Angel Buwawa (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands HS) had 20 digs, 11 blocks and six kills.

The loss drops Fayette two games behind both Penn State Mont Alto and Penn State Greater Allegheny, who are tied for second place.  Fayette will look to solidify fourth place in the standings Wednesday when it heads to Penn State Beaver (2-11, 2-4).  The teams have faced off twice this year with Fayette winning 3-1 at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Tipoff on September 4 and then Fayette swept Beaver in a PSUAC match on September 18.
