Fayette Finishes the Season Off with Two Games Out East

EASTERN PA—In the second of three away games, the Roaring Lions were set to take on Penn State Worthington Scranton Friday night.  After a sluggish start, Fayette dug themselves a hole too deep to climb out of.   

On Feb. 12 the Roaring Lions were led by the excellent plays of Luke Williams who was the only player to score 20 or more points, netting 21 points on the night. Dominick Jackson was second on the team with 13 points despite only playing 15 minutes.  Brandon Cunningham had 5 rebounds leading the way for Fayette.  C.J. Gaddis finished off the night with 5 assists. 

Hasiin Dixon showed why he is one of the best players in the PSUAC, recording his second triple-double of the year by posting 29 points, 10 assists and 16 rebounds throughout the game. Cullen Fanning also finished off the night with 29 points.             

The Roaring Lions fell behind early trailing at half time 50 to 33.   

Fayette edged out Worthington Scranton in three pointers and free throws making 75.0% of their free throws and 34.4% of their three pointers; while Scranton led in field goals making 59.7% to Fayette's 45.7%. 

The Roaring Lions suffered only their third loss overall and first conference loss of the semester with a score of 104 to 85. This conference loss solidifies the Lions in second place in the PSUAC with a record of 12-3 with one game left in the season. 

Fayette will look to rebound back with another conference matchup facing Penn State Wilkes Barre Saturday, February 13^th at 3pm.

On Saturday, February 13^th Fayette would look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon from a tough loss the previous night. The Roaring Lions rebounded back with a great game beating Wilkes-Barre 93 to 88. 

Brandon Cunningham had a bounce back game scoring 31 points on the night compared to his 12 from the night before. Cunningham also had a team high of 6 rebounds throughout the night.  C.J. Gaddis netted 19 points giving him 30 points on the weekend.  London Hoxie had another impressive game from the bench netting 18 points in the game from the bench. 

Christopher Cantine was by far Wilkes-Barre's best player scoring 30 of their teams 88 points.  Kelvin Koonce also had a nice game from the bench scoring 13 points putting him second on the team for the night.

Fayette would lead at half time with a score of 45 to 31.

Fayette had the advantage in free throws making 77.4% to Wilkes Barre's 75.0%.  Fayette also edged Wilkes-Barre in field goals netting 53.3% to Wilkes Barre's 41.5%. 

Fayette overcame Wilkes-Barre with an important win beating them 93 to 88 improving their record to 13-3 in the PSUAC and a final record of 14-10 on the season.  With their excellent play in the second half of the season, the Roaring Lions were able to secure themselves a second place finish and first round bye in the PSUAC playoffs.
