Smith and Haines Looking to Lead Lady Lions to Another Victory Against DuBois

-  PREVIEW -

Coming off over a week of rest, the Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions should be well-rested for a busy weekend as they take on Penn State DuBois Friday night at 6pm and Penn State Schuylkill Saturday afternoon at 1pm. The women's team previously met DuBois on their home court earlier on in the season, overpowering them with a win of 76-58.  Fayette's starters came up big with Courtney Haines tallying a whopping season high of 29 points helping her achieve Student Athlete of the Week. Fayette's own Student Athlete of this past week, Taylor Smith, recorded her fifth double-double of the season against DuBois, recently adding a seventh to her stats in their last game versus Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Ranked fourth in the PSUAC and fifteenth in the nation, the Fayette women are currently rolling on a three game winning streak with an overall record of 7-7 while DuBois ranks in at ninth with an overall record of 6-11.

- PLAYERS TO WATCH -

#43 Taylor Smith (Junior; Forward) - Starting every game this season, Smith leads the team with 188 points making an impressive 75.6% of field goals attempted. She dominates under the hoop both offensively and defensively taking the top stats in rebounds for her team with 57 offensive and 88 defensive averaging 10.4 per game ranking her with the second highest average in the PSUAC. Nationally, Smith is creeping her way to the top, currently standing in 12th for rebounds per game. As a new transfer this year from Point Park, Smith has truly made a name for herself on the court and on the board helping her team rally to seven total wins so far this season.

#10 Courtney Haines (Junior; Forward) – Accumulating the most minutes this season as a starter in every game, with 387 minutes, Haines follows closely behind Taylor Smith racking up 180 points so far ranking twelfth in the PSUAC for average points per game with 12.9. Not only is she good at sinking shots, but she's also a team player with 32 assists, the most so far this season for her team. Quick with her hands, no team stands a chance at keeping the ball for long with Haines taking over the court and team with 33 steals this season. This positions her at tenth in the PSUAC for both average steals per game and total steals at this point in the season.
