Tough Loss for Women's Basketball After Tight Game

LEMONT FURNACE, PA – Friday night's game (January 29th at 6:00pm) between the Penn State Lady Roaring Lions and Penn State DuBois' women's basektball team was a back and forth battle. Ending the first two quarters all tied up and even the third quarter with a mere two point difference, Fayette came into the fourth quarter strong. The game came down to the wire in the last 60 seconds as Fayette willed each second to tick by faster as they only led by two points. Unfortunately, the referees were calling a tight game and fouls began slipping out as the pressure to win rose. In the end, DuBois snuck by capturing a 70-65 win over Fayette.

For DuBois, Kristy Hanes was a force to be reckoned with, shooting 100% for three pointers and free throws. By the end of the game, she'd accumulated 12 points for her team.

Haley Moreland was a vital player last night for Fayette tallying up two scoring highs in the game with 16 points total and draining 6 from the free throw line. Another key shooter, owning the three point line, was Ally Rudolph with three, the most out of any player that game.

Remaining calm under pressure is one of the hardest things for athletes when their adrenaline is pumping, heart is racing, and fans are going crazy. Ashley Brown and Kaeylyn Gruver proved the true meaning of composure on the free throw line for DuBois in the final seconds. Brown pushed her team into a one point lead with 26 seconds to go, and Gruver clinched the win even more at the very end increasing DuBois' lead to five points for the win.

Newcomer to the Fayette Women's team, Lindsey Huhn, is proving to be a huge addition to the roster. She marked down her first start against DuBois as a Roaring Lion while also shooting in the double digits, gathering 12 points, the second most for her team last night.

The Lady Roaring Lions have a big week coming up with a game today against Penn State Schuylkill at home at 1:00pm and three more to come over the next four days.
