Baseball and Softball's conference play just around the corner
Lemont Furnace, PA- PSUAC Conference play is just around the corner for both baseball and softball at Penn State Fayette.
Fayette Baseball and Softball seasons are in full swing, with conference play just around the corner.
This weekend will start off baseball PSUAC play with the first game taking place on the road against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday. Greater Allegheny comes into the competition 5-7 overall, with a current losing streak of 2. Fayette has struggled to find their groove so far this season, only winning two games. However, Fayette showed they are turning over a new leaf with a 10-4 win against Bucks County Community College last Tuesday. Johnny Ioannou, often referred to as "Mr. RBI" is having a great start to the season for Fayette. Ioannou has 17 RBIs, 11 runs, and 1 homerun heading into conference play.
Next weekend, we will look to start off softball's PSUAC Conference play with a game against top PSUAC team Penn State Mont Alto. Mont Alto is currently 9-5 overall, with a conference game prior to Fayette with Penn State Scranton. The Fayette team is off to a rocky start with a 0-4 overall record, and games on the horizon this weekend for non-conference play. In just the four games played Sophia Zalar has 4 stolen bases. A statistic that Zalar is used to leading in, being first in the PSUAC last season.
