Baseball drops doubleheader to Kent State Tuscarawas

Belle Vernon, PA- Fayette drops doubleheader to Kent State Tuscarawas.

In the first game of the doubleheader Fayette was down from the start, with Kent State Tuscarawas scoring 2 in the top of the first. Fayette was able to tie it up in the second, and then the third. With a tie of 4-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth Fayette pulled away, scoring 5 runs in the inning, making the score 9-4. When Fayette thought they had closed the door, the Tuscarawas came alive, scoring 5 in the top of the seventh. The Tuscarawas took the first game 10-9. Despite the loss, Aidan Schnurer was a stand out for the Fayette team with 3 RBIs, 2 hits, and 2 runs. There was also good pitching effort from Remington Lessman that threw 5 strikeouts ove five innings and Aiden Newmeyer threw 3 strikeouts over two innings.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Fayette managed to get ahead by 1 run leading into the third. However, the Tuscarawas bats were too hot, scoring 4 in the top of the third. In the bottom of the fifth, Sawyer D'Andrea managed to achieve a homerun to left field, also driving in a run from Andrew Despot. In top of the sixth, the Tuscarawas managed to run away with the game, scoring 6 in the top of the sixth. Despite Fayette's best efforts, the final score resulted in a 16-10 loss. Leading for Fayette was Sawyer D'Andrea with 4 RBIs, 2 runs, and a homerun. Despite the pitching loss, Noah Matthews had 9 strikeouts throughout his five innings at the mound.

Fayette will continue the series against Kent State Tuscarawas at the Eagles home field tomorrow for a 1:00 P.M. start in the doubleheader.
