Fayette drops series to Greater Allegheny

Lemont Furnace, PA- Fayette drops series to Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Penn State Greater Allegheny, a second ranked team in the conference, was no easy task for Fayette this past weekend. Fayette battled in their first game of the series, with a final score of 6-3. The pitcher for Greater Allegheny, Giovanni Scott, was able to secure 13 strikeouts, making it hard to find a batting rhythm. Sawyer D'Andrea led in stats for Fayette with 2 homeruns, 3 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. For the second game on the road of the series Fayette once again gave Greater Allegheny a battle, creating three pitching changes for their opponent. Despite the effort, Fayette came up short once again with a 8-6 final score. Leading for Fayette was Johnny Ioannou with 2 RBIs and 1 hit. Remington Lessman was able to achieve 4 strikeouts for Fayette. For the second part of the series, Fayette played at home. For game three of the series, Fayette came out with bats on fire, matching Greater Allegheny with 4 runs in the first. Despite a strong showing from the young team of Fayette, Greater Allegheny pulled ahead, winning the game 10-9. Despite the loss, Johnny Ioannou lit up the stats with 2 homeruns, 4 RBIs, 3 hits and 2 runs. For the final game of the series, Fayette was unable to exhaust anymore options, with a final score of 16-5. Despite the loss, Ioannou stood out once again with 2 RBIs, 3 hits, and 1 run.
