Roaring Lions drop third straight

January 8, 2011--Uniontown, Pa.

Despite 22 points and nine rebounds from sophomore James Pratt, Penn College was too much for Penn State Fayette, taking down the Roaring Lions 77-64 in PSUAC action. The loss drops the Roaring Lions to 1-3 in conference play, while Penn improves to 3-0.

Playing without their leading scorer and rebounder, injured sophomore David Winns, Fayette was unable to capitalize on 15 Penn turnovers. Sophomore Ian McCombs picked up some slack, scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds while sophomore Josh Tomson scored 11 points, including two three-point field goals, rounding out the three Fayette players in double-figures.

Penn led 47-30 at the half, and despite a late push from the Roaring Lions, had built a large enough lead to hold on. Winns' presence inside was missed, as Penn outscored Fayette 48-26 in the paint. Leroy Joiner led the Wildcats with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Greg Solyak had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Nico Italiani scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
