New Ken topples Roaring Lions

Penn State New Kensington took down the Penn State Fayette men's basketball team in a PSUAC men's game, winning 70-56 in a rematch from a Dec. 9 match-up. Penn State Fayette won the first game 85-66. The loss drops Fayette to 1-5 in the conference, with 10 games to play, including Saturday, Jan. 22, at Penn State Scranton.

 

The Roaring Lions were led by sophomore James Pratt who had 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Tyler VanOlst contributed 10 points while sophomore David Winns chipped in nine.

 

Fayette was outrebounded 35-27 and shot at only a 29 percent clip to dig themselves a deficit they could not recover from. New Kensington was led by Ta-Wayne Steele with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Justin Reed contributed 24 points and 14 rebounds.

 

Fayette travels to Penn State Scranton Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip off. Scranton is 2-4 in the PSUAC.
