Tough start hampers Roaring Lions

The Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions struggled in the first half, and eventually fell to Penn State DuBois, 93-69, in a PSUAC game at DuBois. The loss drops Fayette to 5-7 in the conference, sitting in a tie for third place in the PSUAC West with Penn State New Kensington.

 

Freshman Tyler VanOlst led the Roaring Lions with a career-high 20 points on five three-point field goals, while sophomore David Winns contributed another strong performance with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Ian McCombs notched his third straight double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Josh Tomson rounded out the Fayette players in double figures.

 

Penn State DuBois was led by Jovan Brown with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while William Welles chipped in 23 points.

 

Penn State Fayette travels to Penn State Beaver on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 3:00 p.m. in a PSUAC West Division match-up. Beaver won the previous meeting at Fayette on Jan. 24, 79-57.
