Point Park men down Roaring Lions

December 2, 2010—West Mifflin, Pa.

For the second time in 11 days, the Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions could not put together a full 40-minute game against Point Park, falling 103-64 to the Pioneers in the CCAC South Gymnasium. For 14 first half minutes Fayette hung with their NAIA opponent, trailing by only six until Point Park began to pull away with an 8-0 spurt. The deficit was 16 at the half, but the Roaring Lions could not make it any closer than 14 points in the second half before the Pioneers pulled away with an 11-2 run.

Sophomore guard James Pratt had a team-high 18 points and eight rebounds while dishing out four assists, his best performance of the season in 37 minutes of playing time. Sophomore forward Ian McCombs also pitched in a season-high 11 points while collecting five rebounds. Senior Tim O'Bryant rounded out the Roaring Lion players in double figures with 10 points.

Fayette took an early 4-0 lead on two field goals by O'Bryant, but Point Park answered with 11 unanswered points. The Roaring Lions rallied back to take a 14-13 lead on the strength of a 10-2 run, but Point Park answered with a field goal and never trailed again as they began to gradually pull away.

The Pioneers were led by Joel Cashatt, who recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Teammate Josh Trocchio had 14 points, while Josh Pohlot added 12 points. Point Park out-rebounded the Roaring Lions 54-41 and shot 49 percent from the floor.

The Roaring Lions open up conference play as they travel to Penn State York for a 3:00 p.m. tip on Dec. 4. The conference home opener comes on Dec. 11 as Fayette hosts Penn State Schuylkill (time to be determined).
