Beaver too much for Roaring Lions

Beaver too much for Roaring Lions

February 5, 2011--Monaca, Pa.

The Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions fell to first place Penn State Beaver, 94-68, in a PSUAC West division game Saturday at the Beaver Fieldhouse. The loss drops Fayette to 5-8 in the PSUAC.

Despite strong performances sophomore's David Winns and Ian McCombs, the Roaring Lions' short bench could not match Beaver's depth. Winns and McCombs combined for 44 points, 23 and 21 respectively, but no other Fayette player scored in double figures. McCombs was two rebounds shy of posting his fourth straight double-double, hauling in eight boards.

Beaver forced 23 turnovers, turning them in to 26 points, and their depth on the bench could not be matched by the Roaring Lions. Thirteen Beaver players scored, and Fayette was outscored 48-13 off the bench.

Beaver was led by David McGarry with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Chris Weathers added 13 points.

The Roaring Lions travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7:00 p.m. for a PSUAC West showdown before hosting Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, Feb. 12, and Penn State DuBois on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
