Roaring Lions fall in another close game

February 12, 2011--Uniontown, Pa.

Sophomore David Winns led the Penn State Fayette Roaring Lions with 28 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, but it was not enough as Penn State Brandywine went home with a win, 82-78, in a PSUAC game in the Community Center Main Arena. Brandywine took an early lead, and held a 42-28 halftime advantage, and despite being outscored 50-40 in the second half, was able to hold on. The loss drops Fayette to 5-10 in the conference.

Winns was supported by junior Josh Tomson with 17 points, including five three-point field goals, and six assists. Sophomore Ian McCombs added 12 points and 14 rebounds, while freshman Tyler VanOlst rounded out the Roaring Lions' players in double figures with 10.

The Roaring Lions outrebounded Brandywine 60-49, but the Lions capitalized on 20 Roaring Lions' turnovers, turning them into 33 points. Fayette outscored Brandywine in the paint, 40-32, and off second chance points, 21-11, but it was not enough for a second half comeback.

Brandywine was led by Rasheed Wilkins with 29 points and 12 steals, while Kyle Hagerty contributed 17 points off the bench.

Fayette finishes their regular season with a PSUAC West division match-up with Penn State DuBois on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 8:00 p.m. in the Community Center Main Arena. DuBois won the previous season meeting on Feb. 3, 93-69.
