DuBois upends Fayette in regular season finale

February 15, 2011--Uniontown, Pa.

 

In the Penn State Fayette regular season finale, Penn State DuBois went home with a 93-65 win in a PSUAC West division game. The Roaring Lions drop their fifth consecutive game, and finish the regular season 5-11 in the PSUAC, 5-20 overall. DuBois improves to 10-5 in the PSUAC with their second win over Fayette in the last 12 days. The Lions defeated Fayette on Feb. 3, 93-69, at DuBois.

 

Sophomore David Winns continued his string of strong performances, collecting his third straight double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Josh Tomson had 14 points, while sophomore Andrew Hoye scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.

 

DuBois outrebounded the Roaring Lions 45-43, but also shot better than 50 percent from the field (36-for-71). The Lions also capitalized on 20 Fayette turnovers, turning them in to 35 points.

 

Josh Salter led DuBois with 28 points, while Woody Mitchell scored 17 points and collected 10 rebounds. DuBois had five players in double figures.

 

The Roaring Lions take a two week break from game action before resuming play in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Basketball Championships on Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center Main Arena. As the host school, both Fayette's men's and women's teams receive automatic bids to the tournament. The Lady Roaring Lions will play on Wednesday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Main Arena.
