November 18, 2011

MEADVILLE, Pa. - Penn State Fayette's men fell for the third straight time in the 2011 season, 104-56 again at the hands of Point Park. The Roaring Lions, coming off a loss to the Pioneers two nights earlier, stayed close early but Point Park pulled away midway through the first half.

Fayette (0-3) was led by junior David Winns (Washington, DC) with 21 points, including 7-for-9 from the free throw line, and eight rebounds. Junior Ryan Hart (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Roaring Lions, while freshman Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.) added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Much like their previous meeting, the Pioneers dominated the glass, pulling down 52 rebounds to Fayette's 29. Point Park also shot 55 percent from the field, including 14-for-25 from behind the three-point line, and scored 40 points in the paint.

Despite cutting turnovers from its previous two outings, the Roaring Lions could not capitalize as they struggled from the field, going 23-for-66 (35 percent). Fayette shot only 12 percent from three-point range, and got to the charity stripe only nine times, converting on seven.

The Pioneers were led by T.J. Heatherington with 30 points, while Asa Braxton added 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jimmy Taylor also collected 19 points, including five three-pointers.

The Roaring Lions will play in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 against the loser of the Pitt-Bradford and Allegheny College match-up. Follow live stats for the game at http://alleghenysports.com/.
