HAZLETON – The Roaring Lions suffered an 85-81 heartbreaking loss to Penn State Hazleton on Friday night on the winner's court.
A 12-2 run midway through the second half gave Fayette a 59-58 lead and Tyler Van Olst (California, Pa.) hit a three-pointer with seven minutes left to extend the lead to 64-58.
A 13-7 run by Hazleton helped the Lions recapture the lead at 72-71 with 3:48 left.
Fayette was paced by James Pratt's (Uniontown, Pa.) 26 points and seven assists. Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) added 19 while David Winns (Washington, D.C.) added 18.
Fayette falls to 7-9 on the year, and 6-2 in PSUAC play. The team wraps up its road trip tomorrow with a 3 p.m. game against Penn State Wilkes-Barre.
