February 2, 2012

DUBOIS, Pa. - No. 17 Penn State Fayette (8-11, 7-4 PSUAC) led at no. 3 Penn State DuBois for much of Thursday night, but a strong shooting effort drove the Lions to an 85-72 win in Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference men's basketball action.

The Roaring Lions held a slim lead throughout the first half, but DuBois used a late surge to take a 45-43 lead into halftime. Fayette regained the advantage in the second half, but a late DuBois run and 36 points from Chris Dickison finished off the Roaring Lions. DuBois (14-6, 9-3 PSUAC) shot nearly 63 percent on the night to fend off Fayette's upset bid.

Freshman Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.) led Fayette with 17 points and three steals. Junior David Winns (Washington, DC) added 14 points and five rebounds and junior James Pratt (Uniontown, Pa.) rounded out the Roaring Lions' double-figure scorers with 13 points.

Fayette made 10 three-point field goals on the night, including three apiece from Cunningham and senior Joshua Tomson (Greensburg, Pa.), and shot 41 percent from the field. However, it was not enough as DuBois held a 32-26 rebounding advantage and made 37 shots from the field.

DuBois received 19 points and seven assists from Jovan Brown.

Fayette returns to the hardwood on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 3:00 p.m. as they host conference leader Penn State Beaver in the Community Center Main Arena.
