Three Roaring Lions Earn Postseason Conference Honors

March 15, 2012

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - Penn State Fayette men's basketball capped an historic season with the recent announcement of three student-athletes garnering Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference postseason honors.

Junior USCAA All-American David Winns (Washington, DC) was named to the 2011-12 PSUAC All-Conference First Team, while junior James Pratt (Uniontown, Pa.) and freshman Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Ca.) earned PSUAC Honorable Mention honors. Cunningham was also named the PSUAC Newcomer of the Year, given to the conference's most outstanding freshman.

The three honorees helped lead Fayette to 13 wins, including the program's first ever win in the USCAA National Basketball Championships, and a conference playoff berth for the first time in last six seasons.

Winns finished second in the PSUAC in scoring with 19.7 points per game, while shooting 56.4 percent from the field, also good for second in the conference. He also ranked second in the conference in rebounding, behind only teammate Ryan Hart (Pittsburgh, Pa.), with 7.9 rebounds per game. Winns totaled 11 double-doubles on the season and shot better than 50 percent from the field in his last 13 games. Winns garners conference honors for the second consecutive season, having been named to the Honorable Mention team last season.

Pratt orchestrated the Roaring Lions offense and added 9.5 points per game as well as 3.3 assists per contest, good for 25th in the USCAA. Pratt also grabbed 1.5 steals per game to earn the second Honorable Mention nod of his career. His first came after his freshman campaign in 2009-10.

Cunningham is Fayette's first men's basketball player to earn Newcomer of the Year honors, and joins Pratt on the Honorable Mention squad. Cunningham averaged 14.2 points per game while grabbing a team-high 2.1 steals per game, good for seventh in the PSUAC. He also led the team with 47 three-pointers on the season. Cunningham shot 44 percent from the field and finished second on the team in scoring.

Fayette returns nine players for the 2012-13 season, including five with starting experience and all three postseason honorees.
