Curses, Foiled Again!

LEMONT FURNACE – You'll have to forgive the Roaring Lions if they feel frustrated. In the course of three days, Fayette played top-ranked Rochester and highly favored Point Park University and came oh so close to beating both teams.

Down 19 to Point Park with slightly less than 15 minutes to go, the Roaring Lions put on another gritty performance and clawed their way back into the game and after C.J. Gaddis hit a pair of free throws seven minutes later, the Roaring Lions trailed by nine before falling to the Pioneers 88-74.

It was the second time that Fayette put on a second half surge. On Friday against Rochester, the Roaring Lions trailed by as many as 17 in the second half before storming back to take a one point lead with six minutes to go in the game.

Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) led the way with 17 points, Ryan Hart (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 15 and grabbed eight rebounds.

James Pratt (Uniontown, Pa.) added 14 and dished out five assists. C.J. Gaddis (Brownsvile, Pa.) came off the bench to add 10, including a sizzling 3-4 from the three point line.

Fayette (5-9, 4-2 PSUAC) outscored the Pioneers 46-41 in the second half when the Roaring Lions shot 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range.

The Roaring Lions are off until Saturday when they return to PSUAC action at Penn State Mont Alto with a 3 p.m. tip.
