FINALLY! Roaring Lions Down Dubois on Cunningham's Last Second Shot

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Finally the basketball gods smiled on the Roaring Lions. After four heartbreaking last second losses, Fayette finally got to enjoy some last minute heroics of its own.

With less than four seconds to go and the score tied at 66, Brandon Cunningham (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) hit a three from the top of the key to give the Roaring Lions the win, 69-66.

The win was a turnaround of sorts from the last time the two teams met when a last second shot gave Dubois the win.

Fayette overcame a 24-point halftime deficit to pull out the win. By the time Darius Mack drained a three from the right side at 8:43, the Roaring Lions had ripped off a 21-6 run. In all, the Roaring Lions outscored DuBois 43-16 in the second half.

A James Pratt (Uniontown, Pa.) layup with 2:15 to go tied the score at 61. After Woody Mitchell gave Dubois the lead again, David Winns (Washington, Pa.) answered with a layup to tie it at 63.

Cunningham drilled a three with 37 seconds left to give Fayette a three-point lead. The lead was short lived, however, as Mitchell hit a three 13 seconds later to tie it at 66 and set up Cunningham's last second heroics.

Pratt led all scorers with 19 and dished out three assists.

Winn notched the double-double, scoring  18 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Cunningham had 12 and dished out 10 assists. Once again Mack turned in a strong performance off of the bench scoring 10.

With the win, Fayette improves to 13-11 overall and 12-4 in PSUAC play . The Roaring Lions close out the regular season when they host Penn State Brandywine on Saturday in a game that has major implications for seeding in the upcoming PSUAC Championships.
