Short-handed Roaring Lions fall to Saint Vincent 86-56

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Saint Vincent got double-doubles from Dillon Stith and Sean Kett en route an 86-56 win over Fayette on Tuesday evening

Stith scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Kett added 12 and pulled down 13 boards

The Bearcats (9-2, 2-0), also got 18 points and 8 seven rebounds from Isaac Turner, while Pat Jones chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Jacob Bronder (Jefferson Hills, Pa.) led a short-handed Roaring Lions team, notching a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Because of travel arrangements following the semester break, Coach Mark John had only five players at his disposal for the game, and afterwards was proud of his team's effort. "They played hard and didn't quit," John said after the game. "The guys were actually looking forward to the challenge."

"Downtown" Derek Jones (Brownsville, Pa.) continued his hot season, drilling five three-pointers to notch 15 points to go with five rebounds. Dierre Jenkins (Uniontown, Pa.) added seven points and seven rebounds. C.J. Gaddis (Brownsville, Pa.) dished out seven assists.

Fayette trailed 50-26 at the half, and John challenged his team to "win the second half," which they nearly did, scoring 30 points to SVC's 36. Fayette shot nearly 42 percent in the second half as opposed to 32 percent in the opening half.

The Roaring Lions (4-8, 3-2) return on conference play on Jan. 11 when they travel to Williamsport to face Penn College. Game time is 3 p.m.
