Roaring Lions defeat DuBois 114-95

DUBOIS, Pa. – Junior Matt McKenna (Pittsburgh, Pa.) notched his fifth double-double to lead the Roaring Lions to a 114-95 win over Penn State Dubois on Friday.

McKenna led all scorers with 33 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and dished out five assists to help Fayette (10-12, 9-5 PSUAC) clinch its second consecutive playoff berth. Luke Williams (Maui, Hawaii) scored 28 and added three steals as the Roaring Lions strengthened their hold on to second place in the PSUAC's West Division.

After Sam Roselli's jump shot with 12:40 to play in the first half cut Fayette's lead to one, McKenna drove coast to coast for a layup that ignited a 30-8 run by the Roaring Lions gave them a 51-29 lead with a little more than four to play.

Fayette went into the locker room with a 56-42 lead. Tanner Gooden's layup with 12 minutes to play cut the Fayette lead to eight. C.J. Gaddis (Brownsville, Pa.) hit four free throws and McKenna and Spencer Perieff (Liahania, Hawaii) hit jumpers and Fayette's lead was restored.

From there, the Roaring Lions never looked back.

Gaddis finished with 14 points and added four assists while Dierre Jenkins (Uniontown, Pa.) added 10 and Jacob Bronder (Jefferson Hill, Pa.) pulled down 10 rebounds

The Roaring Lions return to action on Saturday when they travel to New Kensington for a 1 p.m. that can be heard on WMBS 570 AM and the MSA Sports Network.
