Men’s Basketball Breaks Even Over the Weekend

The men's basketball team had back-to-back Penn State University Conference games over the weekend. They won a nail-biter on Friday and suffered a heartbreaker on Saturday.

To kick-off the weekend, Fayette faced Hazleton. The Roaring Lions dominated for the first half of the game. At one point, they seized a 15-point lead over Hazleton, but the opposing team was not going to go down without a fight. In the second half, Hazleton rallied back. And with less than four minutes to go, Jordan Singletary's free throw put Hazleton within one point of Fayette. But the Roaring Lions would not relinquish the lead. Hazleton was ultimately defeated, and Fayette won by a score of 78-72. Dominick Jackson led all scorers with 22 points, and Tanner Huffman added 10 points, coming off the bench.

With two consecutive wins, the Roaring Lions were looking to continue the win streak when they traveled to Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday. Fayette tied the game with 11 seconds left but fell short in overtime. The final score was 103-99. Dominick Jackson led in scoring for Fayette with 25 points, Spencer Perieff had 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Benjamin Wilson had 12 points and 9 rebounds, coming off the bench.

The Roaring Lions are now 5-9 in the season and 3-3 in the PSUAC. They will look to get above .500 in the conference when they play at Penn State Du Bois on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 8pm.
