Men's Baseketball fall to Pitt Greensburg in a close matchup

Lemont Furnace, PA – The 2017-2018 season has got off to a great start for the Penn State Fayette men's basketball team. They started the season out on the road, where they traveled to Pittsburgh and defeated CCAC. Fayette would be back on the road for the second game of the season. The Roaring Lions traveled to Greensburg, PA for a Friday night match-up with Pitt Greensburg. Fayette would look to add another win to the season while Pitt Greensburg were in search of their first win of the season after losing their season opener.

Pitt Greensburg defeated Penn State Fayette, 79-69.

In the first quarter, Pitt Greensburg would take the early lead, but Fayette would respond by capitalizing on their defensive play and rebounds. Leading for Fayette would be Marvin Sidon with 10 points and London Hoxie, who posted 16 points for Fayette. The first quarter would end with a 39-35 lead for Pitt Greensburg.

The second quarter would start the same for Pitt Greensburg as they would continue to lead the game. However, Fayette would not back down and continued to fight to even the score late in the 2nd quarter. Tavian Mozie made a clutch three-point shot and a steal by Marvin Sidon that would lead to a foul would spark the comeback for Fayette. Sidon would hit two foul shots to make the score 68-64, in favor of Pitt Greensburg. London Hoxie would steal the next possession for Greensburg and make a pass to Mozie, who would be fouled, but would make the lay-up. Mozie would hit the shots at the foul-line to make it a 1 point deficit with 3 minutes left. Unfortunately, Pitt Greensburg would extend the lead late in the 2nd quarter and would make the foul shots that they would receive from Fayette to give the Roaring Lions their first loss of the season. Penn State Fayette would be 34.3% from the field and 25.8% from three-point range. Fayette posted 37 rebounds, 20 points off turnovers and 12 turnovers total.

The Roaring Lions will look to get back on track this Wednesday for another road game. Penn State Fayette men's basketball will travel to Charleston, West Virginia to take on the University of Charleston West Virginia. The game is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
