Fayette Men's Basketball falls to University of Charleston

Lemont Furnace, PA – After losing their first game of the season last week, the (1-1) Penn State Fayette men's basketball team were looking to get back on the win column. The beginning of the season for the Roaring Lions started out on the road and will continue that way until December 5th, where they will host Penn State New Kensington. They were successful in their first game against CCAC, but fell short to Pitt Greensburg last Friday. The next challenge ahead for Fayette was a non-conference match-up on the road against the University of Charleston West Virginia, who would be (3-2), heading into the game. 

Fayette would fall to the University of Charleston West Virginia, 93-77. The first half started out &both teams playing fast pace basketball and matching each basket made by their opponent. John Bristol led the way in the first half with 11 points, 1 steal and 2 rebounds. Also, London Hoxie and Atrayo Matthews made clutch shots to help the Roaring Lions take the lead. However, the University of Charleston (WV), responded and took the lead heading into halftime, 37-32. 

In the 2nd half, London Hoxie and Atrayo Matthews continued their dominant play as the led the Roaring Lions. Hoxie would post 17 points with 5 rebounds. Matthews tallied 15 points with 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals. Marvin Sidon would have 6 points for Fayette in the 2nd half. Fayette would have some foul troubles and turnovers that would led to points for the University of Charleston (WV). The Roaring Lions tried to comeback, but fell short as the 2nd quarter came to the end. Fayette was 43.8% from the field and 48.4% from 3-point range. The Roaring Lions tallied a total of 34 rebounds. Penn State Fayette is now (1-2), as they still have yet to play a conference game this season. 

Coming up next, the Roaring Lions are back on the road in another non-conference game. Fayette will travel to Butler, PA to take on Butler County Community College on November 29th. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM.
