Roaring Lions split weekend; Look to home opener

Lemont Furnace, PA – The month of November has been quite the road-trip for the men's basketball team. The last 4 games of the season have all been on the road for Fayette. They won the first game of the season at CCAC, but would drop the next two games against Pitt Greensburg and the University of Charleston (WV). Fayette would bounce back after losing two games and would defeat Butler County Community College to even their record at (2-2). The month of December would open up to the men's team with 2 big games in the PSUAC. The men's team would travel with the women's team to take on Penn State Worthington Scranton on Friday night and Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

The men's team played after the women's victory against Penn State Worthington Scranton on Friday and were looking to continue the Fayette dominance on the court. In the first half, Worthington Scranton would carry most of the momentum of the game. Fayette would be unable to make the shots they would attempt early and Worthington Scranton would respond with points off the missed opportunities from Fayette. Worthington Scranton would take a 10 point lead going into half-time. Marvin Sidon would lead Fayette in the 1st half with 7 points. London Hoxie and Jamar Dues would record 5 points each.

In the 2nd half, Fayette would come out with dominance by making great shots and playing shut-down defense. The momentum would switch in big ways for Fayette in the 2nd half. Marvin Sidon played an outstanding 2nd half for Fayette. Sidon would post 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal. Iman Young helped contribute to the dominance with 12 points of his own, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. London Hoxie tallied 8 points during the 2nd half. Fayette would score 47 points in the 2nd half to Worthington Scranton's 20 points. The men's team would defeat Penn State Worthington Scranton, 71-54. It was a great response from the men's team after trailing early in the 1st half. Fayette would be back on the road after the Friday night victories to take on another PSUAC opponent.

Saturday afternoon would be another test for big points in the PSUAC. Fayette would take on Penn State Wilkes Barre. Both teams were ready to take another game in the conference and cap off a great weekend of Fayette basketball. The women's team were able to get a victory against the women's team of Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The men's team were looking to use that win to help spark their efforts in their game. In the 1st half, Penn State Wilkes Barre would take the lead by scoring off of the attempts and turnovers from Fayette. Marvin Sidon would continue his outstanding play by leading Fayette in the 1st half with 10 points, 4 assists and 2 steals. John Bristol would have 9 points in the 1st half. The score would end up 39-29 for Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

The 2nd half would display great basketball plays from both teams. Fayette were looking to take the lead in the 2nd half, but Wilkes-Barre would not let them take the lead away from them. Atrayo Matthews would come out and record 17 points in the 2nd half. John Bristol would tally 11 points in the 2nd half. Unfortunately, Fayette was unable to take the lead as the time would run out for them late in the game. The men's team would fall to Penn State Wilkes Barre, 97-82. It was not the outcome that the men's team wanted, but they played a great game on Friday and during this game to take to their next contest.
