Men's Basketball goes 0-2 against competitive USCAA opponents

Lemont Furnace, PA – Entering the weekend, the Penn State Fayette men's basketball team would close out the fall season with two USCAA non-conference matchups against UC Clermont on Friday, December 15th and top-ranked Villa Maria on Saturday, December 16th. The Roaring Lions would drop both highly competitive matchups against the two premier programs.

Lacking in terms of depth, Fayette managed to post a respectable 46 points in the first half and 41 in the second. With a standout performance by sophomore guard, Atrayo Matthews posting a season high 27 points and team leader Marvin Sidon, who posted 23 of his own, Fayette could not control UC Clermont's Jamie Carson and Ben Sommer, respectively posting a combined 57 points. Fayette would fall with a final score of 87-108.

In the second matchup, the Roaring Lions fared well in the first half against (11-1) Villa Maria College, keeping the score tight at 38-42. Fayette would be unable to contain Villa Maria's 3 20-point scores in Dominic Douglas (28 points), Jay Scarbrough (24 points), and DeJaun Owens (20 points). Fayette was led by London Hoxie coming off the bench to post team highs in points (21) and rebounds (13). Other notable Roaring Lion performers include Marvin Sidon (14 points) and Atrayo Matthews (19 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds).

Men's basketball will be back in action January 5th, 2018 as they host Butler County Community College for a 1:00pm non-conference matchup.
