Fayette extends win streak to 4 with sweep of Schuylkill

April 22, 2011--Schuylkill Haven, Pa.

 

The Penn State Lady Roaring Lions softball team stayed hot, sweeping Penn State Schuylkill 16-1 and 18-0, a day after sweeping two games from Penn State New Kensington. The wins improve Fayette to 4-6 in the PSUAC, 4-10 overall.

 

Sophomore Sarah Swaney cracked three doubles in the doubleheader, going 6-for-7 overall. Swaney started hot in game one, going 3-for-3, including two of her doubles. Freshman pitcher Paige McWilliams picked up her first collegiate win in game one, giving up one run on one hit, while striking out four, in the score-shortened three-inning game. Sophomore Kaitlyn Novak reached base five times in game one, going 4-for-4 and being hit by a pitch.

 

Sophomore Kasey Ruble won game two, earning a victory for the second straight day, blanking the Lady Lions over four innings. Ruble struck out six and gave up only two hits. Freshman Jill Guthrie went 4-for-4 with a double in game two.

 

Fayette will travel to Penn State Mont Alto on Monday, April 25, for a 2:00 p.m. game. The Lady Roaring Lions then travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, April 26, for a 2:00 p.m. start before hosting Penn College on Wednesday, April 27, at Noon at Hutchinson Park. Each game is a make-up for previously rained out contests.
