Fayette drops two at Mont Alto

Fayette drops two at Mont Alto

April 25, 2011--Mont Alto, Pa.

Freshman Taylor Lux went 3-for-3 at the plate in game one, but Penn State Mont Alto managed five runs in six innings off of sophomore Kasey Ruble, taking game one, 5-2, before shutting out the Lady Roaring Lions, 8-0, in game two. The loss drops Fayette to 4-8 in the PSUAC, virtually eliminating them from playoff contention.

Freshman Stephanie Longo had two walks and a sacrifice fly in the first game, while sophomore Samantha Anderson went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Ruble gave up four hits in her six innings in the pitcher's circle, but Fayette could not get enough run support to overcome the five runs.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Novak started game two, but the story turned out to be the Fayette bats. The Lady Roaring Lions could only muster two hits, as junior Shannon Ardabell and freshman Jill Guthrie each collected a single. Novak pitched four innings, giving up three hits and six walks before giving way to freshman Paige McWilliams in the fifth.

Fayette has a quick turn around, traveling to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, April 28, for another PSUAC game. The Lady Roaring Lions conclude their conference schedule with Penn College on Wednesday, April 29.
