2012 Penn State Fayette Softball Schedule Announced

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - Penn State Fayette's 2012 softball season will kick-off on Wednesday, March 14 at 4:00 p.m. as first-year head coach Bethany Novotny's squad hosts CCAC South at Hutchinson Park in Hopwood, Pa. The Roaring Lions will play 16 doubleheaders, including eight against Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference opponents

The Roaring Lions hit the road the following week, as they travel to non-conference foes Salem International, Saint Vincent College and Butler Community College. Also on the non-conference slate are Carlow University, Valley Forge Christian College and Washington Adventist University.

Fayette opens PSUAC play on the road, traveling to Penn College for a 2:00 p.m. showdown on Saturday, March 31. The Roaring Lions' home conference opener comes against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Tuesday, April 3. Fayette hosts all home games at Hutchinson Park in Hopwood, Pa.

An eight-game conference home stand, beginning with Greater Allegheny, highlights the middle portion of the Roaring Lions' season, as Penn State Beaver, Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Mont Alto all visit Fayette between April 11-15.

Doubleheaders at Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Scranton on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, respectively, cap Fayette's regular season.

The Roaring Lions return five starters and seven letterwinners from the 2011 squad that missed the PSUAC playoffs by one game.
