HOPWOOD, Pa. – The Lady Roaring Lions dropped both ends of a season opening double header to Saint Vincent College on Saturday at Hutchinson Park. The Lady Bearcats posted scores of 11-3 and 10-0 to improve to 7-3 on the season.
In the opening game, Morgan Miller paced the Lady Roaring Lions (0-2) at the plate, going 2-3 in her Fayette debut. Andrea Lash and Jessica Stairs each drove in a run with a double.
Lash took the loss, surrendering nine hits and five earned runs. She struck out three.
Katie Volek took the loss in game two, giving up 10 hits and six earned runs in her first outing of the year.
At the plate, Volek smashed a double while Moriah Kromer and Lash accounted for the hits.
The Lady Roaring Lions return to action on Monday, when they host the Carlow Celtics for a special Saint Patrick's Day doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the Hutchinson Complex in Hopwood.
