Fayette Splits Tightly Contested Doubleheader at Beaver

The Roaring Lions traveled to Penn State Beaver Wednesday to match up against the Lady Lions in a doubleheader. Both games would be highly competitive, with the teams splitting. Beaver would take the first, while Fayette would rebound to take the second.

Fayette opened the scoring in game 1 when Tiffany Markovitch roped a solo homerun over the left field fence.

But Beaver would tie the game in the home half of the inning, then take the lead in the 3rd on an RBI single by Dina Cable.

An RBI double by Chanel Porter brought Fayette within 1 in the 4th. Aubree Yates drove in a run on a fielders choice in the 7th to force extra innings.

Beaver would score in the 8th to win the game.

Vanessa Jackson took the win for Beaver, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits.

Tiffany Markovitch took the loss for Fayette, allowing 4 runs, striking out 8.

Game 2 proved to be a pitcher's duel, with Fayette's Casey Hite coming out on top.

The lone run of the game was scored in the 3rd, when singles by Hannah Kline and Aubree Yates put a runner in scoring position for Kelsey Holp to drive in.

The teams would continue to exchange zeros for the rest of the game.

A key moment in the game came in the bottom of the 7th, when Fayette's Caitlin Brown laid out to rob Beaver of a hit in their pivotal last at bat.

From there, Hite took over, getting the final 2 outs and securing the win.

Casey Hite earned the win for Fayette, allowing only 3 hits over 7 innings.

Jessica Hughes took the loss for Beaver, allowing 1 run on 7 hits.

Fayette returns to action Friday and Saturday as they host Penn State Mont Alto for 4 games. First pitch is scheduled for 2PM both days. Come out and support your Roaring Lions as they make the final push towards the playoffs!
