SB splits with LaRoche University in home opener

Lemont Furnace, PA- Softball split with LaRoche in the season home opener.

Softball played a double header yesterday against LaRoche University and split the series. Fayette got off to an early lead of 4-1 in the bottom of the first, however LaRoche achieved 4 runs by the third, making the score 8-4 in their favor. Fayette tried their best to battle back in the sixth, but unfortunately by the seventh the score resulted in 11-6. However, the second game of the double header was a new beginning for the young softball team. It was a batters game in the second game, with LaRoche starting off with a 2-0 lead. The fifth inning is where Fayette shined with 5 runs, making the score 5-2. LaRoche tried their best to battle back in the seventh, but Fayette was able to finish the job with a final score of 9-6.

Head Coach Alex Rolhf shared her comments about the double header, "It was nice to get a chance to play on our home field after opening at the beach. Overall, I was happy with how our offense performed today. I think there's a lot of positives to take from today and use them when we start conference play this weekend."

Leaders for Fayette were Cassidy Uphold with a total of 3 hits and 5 RBI's and Olivia Logan with 4 RBI's and 3 runs. 

 

Fayette will play on Friday in their first PSUAC matchup against Penn State Beaver. The double header is scheduled for 2PM and 4PM.
